During the early 20th century the White Sox were a frequent contender, winning 5 of a possible 19 league pennants. Later in the 1950s, the team had begun to restore its respectability using an offensive philosophy, emphasizing on speed and a spectacular style of defense.
In 1959, the team won its first pennant in four decades thanks to the hard work of several eventual Hall of Famers – Lopez, Aparicio, Fox (the league MVP), and pitcher Early Wynn.
In 2005 the team ended decades of frustration when it won its first World Series Championship since 1917. Through 2006 the all-time regular
