The franchise was originally known as the Montreal Expos as it was a Quebec based baseball team. Throughout its history the team has not been very successful; more recently during the 2005 season the team relocated to Washington D.C.
The Nationals have only won one Division title in 1981 but as the original team.
On April 6, 2005, the Washington Nationals recorded their first-ever regular season win by beating the Phillies, 7-3. The win came in their second game of the season and was highlighted by Wilkerson's hit for the cycle.
