The team’s early history began in 2002 when Andretti Green was originally founded. Since the beginning the team seemed to be on the right track as they soon began to obtain pole positions at the different race tracks in the United States.
One of the team’s most accomplished drivers the Scottish Franchitti grabbed his first Series win during July 2004; this will be one of many wins the driver would achieve. By 2007 Franchitti had claimed three championships in four seasons.
Another fact for which the team is famous besides their frequent wins is that in 2006 they signed a contract with Danika Patrick situation which shocked the racing world as she became the first woman to ever drive professionally for an IndyCar team.
She began the following year in 2007. Franchitti no longer drives for the AGR team.
In 2006 AGR made an official announcement that they would become part of the American Le Mans Series while debuting the following year at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Amongst the team’s leading sponsors we can mention: 7-Eleven, Motorola, and Formula Dream.
