Bettenhausen Motorsports was the team’s first name when it began to operate in the early part of the year 2000. Its first and more recognized drivers have been: Helio Castroneves, Patric Carpentier and Stefan Johansson.
The racing group original owners were killed in an accident therefore; Michael Jourdain Jr. and Wiggins took over the managing and changed the name to Herdez Competition.
During the first season the team was not successful and they struggled to obtain points in the championship race until they signed Mario Dominguez who became a vital member in the team as he managed to achieve several wins.
Following in 2004 the team brought Ryan Hunter-Reay who also delivered an outstanding performance. By 2005 the team changed its name to HVM Inc. and they brought in Nelson Phillipe who won in Australia providing the team with their best season in their history as he finished in 4th place in the championship with 5 wins, 2 pole positions and 11 podiums.
For the present 2008 the HMV team will be racing for the IndyCar Series for the first time with leading Venezuelan driver EJ VIso who has achieved outstanding results so far in the championship competition.
