The team was first founded in 1997 and has been competing in the different motorcycling racing categories ever since. The team competes in the MotoGP World Championship under the name San Carlo Honda Gresini.
In 2000 Gresini partnered with Honda and reentered the MotoGP World Championship with a new rider (Kato); by the 2003 season Kato dies while Gresini’s other rider Sete Gibernau managed 4 victories keeping the second place overall.
Despite the nearly 10-year history in the MotoGP racing world the team has achieved important wins; in 2007 the team switches tire suppliers to Bridgestone.
More recently for the 2008 season, Honda Gresini introduced two new riders Alex de Angelis and Shinya Nakano.
