The team was created in 1966 and were based in Chicago, Illinois. The same year the team first entered the league; it qualified for the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Bulls were going to encounter difficult times ahead during the late 1970’s and the first years of the 1980’s.
During the 1984 NBA draft the Bulls acquired out of University of North Carolina shooting guard Michael Jordan. With Jordan leading the Bulls the whole team was then planned around him. He was also awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
During the mid 80’s despite a foot injury Jordan managed to continue making history scoring 37.1 points per game but the Bull’s all time rivals - Celtics – kept stealing their wins.
The team’s roster grew with other players such as: John Paxson, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant and Bill Cartwrigh developing into one of the strongest team’s throughout the 80’s and the 90’s. |
Jordan and the Bulls clinched during the 1990-91, 1991-92, and 1992-93 season a three-in-a-row NBA championship victories to later on repeat the mastery in 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98.
Since 1994 the Bulls play their home games at the United Center; basically the third arena they used as home.
Currently, the Bulls have recently fired Head Coach Jim Boylan and the position is up to now vacant due to the team’s dismal later season.
