This professional basketball team is known as the Mavs. The team’s history dates back to 1980 when it was created; they are the only team representing Dallas, Texas in the league.
During the mid eighties the Mavs became a very fierce some opponent on the basketball courts; its raising culminated with a division title win in 1987.
The next decade was not so encouraging for the Mavs as the team went through many changes; many of the talented key players had fleet while the remaining ones where out with injuries.
It was until the early years of 2001 thru 2004 the team began raising once more. The team won another division title recently in 2007 and a conference title in 2006. |
For their latest campaign in 2006-2007 they achieved 67 wins, 15 loses, and an average .817 percentage.
Some of the best players during the professional life of the team we can mention: Brad Davis, Mark Aguirre, Rolando Blackman, Jim Jackson and Jamal Mashburn
As of 2005 Head Coach Avery Johnson has been leading the way to success. One of his first achievements was in 2006 basically leading the Mavericks to advance to their first NBA Finals. Currently in 2008, the Mavericks were 48-29 and are seventh seed in the Western Conference.
