As one of the strongest teams in the professional basketball league since 1988, the Detroit Pistons have won 5 championships, 2 of them when they were part of the NBL. Plus, they have won 7 Conference titles and 15 Division titles.
During the 1980’s the team’s most fierce rival were the Chicago Bulls, a period in which the team was known as the “Bad Boys” due to their rough and physical style of playing.
Season 2007-08 finished with an overall record of 59-23, positioning themselves in a 2nd place of the conference. The team lost to Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals (4-2).
One and all lean to write this team off year after year, yet they continue to show up and go forward to the Conference Finals.
This season has been the first with the team for Coach Michael Curry and MVP Allen Iverson. The regular season passed by full of ups and downs, finishing with the worst record of the last 7 seasons, a negative 39-43, with a .476 winning percentage. However, they still managed to clinch the last playoff berth in the East, but have to face the leaders of Cleveland in the first round, so their postseason may end early this year.
