The team’s franchise was originally created in 1970 and it was known as the Buffalo Braves. During the team’s first years there was much trouble due to inexperience and the lack of victories.

In the late 1970’s the team relocated to San Diego and they began a new season under the lead of new head coach Gene Shue. Once again the Clippers were not very successful during the following season s and the franchise was moved to Los Angeles where it has remain since.

More recently in 2006 the team began a new plan to draft new talent among which the Clippers selected Michigan State Paul Davis, Miami University Guillermo Diaz and Charlotte Bobcats Melvin Ely. But this was also a disappointing year as the team achieved 40 wins, and 42 loses.

For more than eleven years the Clippers have played their home games at the multi-purpose sports arena of Staples Center located in Los Angeles, California.

The Clippers Head Coach remains Mike Dunleavy who has been leading  the group since the 2003-2007 season.  During the 2007-2008 the Clippers got the fifth position in the conference missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
