The team’s franchise was created in 1946 in Detroit; a few years later to Minneapolis where the team became one of the stepping stones of the sport. Later on in 1960 the team moved to their final destination in Los Angeles.
Throughout the Lakers’ history they have achieved 27 Division titles besides the 28 conference titles and 14 NBA Championships being the most recent one in 2002.
One of the most remembered Lakers’ Coaches is Pat Ridley who led the team to four consecutive finals; the very first title achieved by Ridley was during his first campaign with the team followed by the 1985 NBA title win.
During the 1987 the Lakers and Pat Ridley made history in the NBA with one of the best rosters in the sport with players such as: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Byron Scott, A.C. Green, Mychal Thompson and Michael Cooper to end up the season with a third NBA title.

As of 1999-2000 season the Lakers’ new Head Coach is Phil Jackson who was named Coach of the Year in 1996 after his ever-lasting coaching for the Chicago Bulls.
During the 2007-2008 campaign the team’s performance was very good achieving the first place in the conference and a ticket to the playoffs.
Amongst some of the current players listed in the team’s roster are: Pau Garson (Spaniard), Sasha Vujačić (Slovenian), Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant and Trevor Ariza (Americans).
