The Phoenix Suns were founded as an expansion team in 1968 at Phoenix, Arizona.

During the 1980’s, after having some very successfull seasons, three suns' players were regrettably caught up in a drug abuse outrage and were prosecuted; during the same period general manager Jerry Colangelo began leading the team.

Nevertheless, the team moved ahead and they were very successful during the 1992-93, 1993-94, and 1994-95 seasons, achieving both division and conference titles, during the Charles Barkley era.

The team has achieved a total of 6 Division titles, half of those during three consecutive years from 2005 thru 2007.

During the 2007-2008 the Suns managed a record of 55- 27, but lost to S.A. Spurs in the Western Conference Quarterfinals (4-1)

For 2008-09, new Coach Terry Porter wants the Suns to be on the top five or six teams in the Western Conference. Whether they succeed on title or not, he looks for Amare Stoudemire to possibly locate himself in the MVP arena this season and contribute with his amazing skills to the teams performance.
