The teams franchise first four decades where spent in Rochester, New York, Cincinnati and Kansas City and a final move to Sacramento in 1985.

The Kings have achieved 7 Division titles and 1 conference title as well as 1 NBA Championship in 1951.
More recently after two disappointing 2005-06 and 2006-07 campaigns.

The 2007-08 season began with new hopes for the Kings as a new Coach entered the picture he was Reggie Theus.

Additionally, the team acquired Mikki Moore, Kevin Martin, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson and Lorenzen Wright. But the team only achieved 38 wins and the rest were 44 loses overall. 

Since 1988 until today the Kings have played their home games at the ARCO Arena II located also in Sacramento, California.

The sports facility had a cost of over USD 40 millions which were privately sponsored by ARCO (an energy company).
