The team’s history dates back to 1961when they were known as the Chicago Packers. Throughout the Wizards basketball time they have had several names until 1997 when they officially became the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards’ best basketball time has been during the 1970’s when they achieved 7 Division titles, 4 conference titles and one NBA championship
Amongst some of the teams’ Hall of famers there are: Walt Bellamy, Elvin Hayes, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Wes Unseld, and Moses Malone.
During the 2007-2008 season the team managed 43 wins and 39 loses and are currently taking part of the NBA playoffs.
The Wizards Head Coach is Edward Montgomery who has been with the team since the 2003-2004 season. Since Montgomery’s arrival he has led the team to good positions and several playoff appearances. |
