The team’s history dates back to 1961 when they were known as the Chicago Packers.

Throughout the team's basketball time they have had several names and locations. The team adopted the name of the Washington Wizards until 1997.

The team’s best basketball time has been throughout the 1970’s, when they achieved 7 Division titles, 4 conference titles and one NBA championship.

During the Michael Jordan era from 2001-2003, the team managed to conclude both seasons with a 37-45 record.

During the 2007-2008 season the team managed 43 wins and 39 loses, finishing in the 2nd position of their division and the 5th in the conference.

The Wizards have exhibited the same high-point, no-defense, fashion of play ever since head coach Eddie Jordan took over 6 years ago. Regardless of having three rightful all-star players on the roster, the Wizards have been packed down by the Cleveland Cavaliers’ one-man mob of LeBron James in each of the last three seasons.

Now, after keeping their center group of players unbroken by signing point guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Antawn Jamison to long-term deals this offseason, the Wizards are eager to make it out of the initial round of the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
