Finishing 2007 with an 11-3 record, including a 7-1 mark in ACC, Frank Beamer's team won six of its first seven games, with the only loss coming in week two, an uncomfortable 48-7 beating by eventual national champion LSU.
The team's only other loss in the regular season came at the hands of Boston College (14-10), but the Hokies were able to rebound by closing out with five straight victories, including getting even on that loss to the Eagles with a booming 30-16 trouncing of BC in the ACC Title Game.
If Junior PK Dustin Keys becomes vital, it might be a good season. While the defense will be usually sparing, the offense is going to battle to put points on the board. VTech will be involved in lot’s of close, low-scoring games this fall. Dustin Keys has to become a leader period.
If VTech wins another ACC championship, the season will be sensation. The Hokies are still the class of the Coastal Division and the only program with a clear point in talent. Even though Tech isn’t as potent as last year, the goal of a league title remains in the limit.
