The Demon Deacons have set a school record with 20 wins over the last two seasons. With a favorable schedule, posting a third straight winning season is almost a lock and it is not out of the question to think that Wake Forest could be playing for its second league title in the last three years.
The Deacon defense is the most experienced in the ACC. Eight seniors should start. Nine of the top 10 tacklers from a year ago are back. The sack leader from last season, Jeremy Thompson, has graduated, but the line should still be able to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Wake Forest is showing up in many of the national preseason polls. It's certainly different than past years, but it's not something that Grobe is reserved away from.
