Based in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the James Madison Dukes are members of the CAA in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Dukes joined the CAA in 2007 due to the restructuring and eventual disband of the Atlantic 10 teams. The JMU’s home field is the Bridgeforth Stadium and Zane Showker Field, which is a multi-purpose stadium established in 1975.
Throughout its entire history, the Dukes football team has only won one NCAA Division I-AA national title; the win took place in 2004.therwise, JMU football has appeared in the playoffs on four occasions: in the 1999, 2006, 2007 and 2008 season.
For the 2008 season, a 12-2 record left the James Madison team in first place of the CAA South, finishing the conference play with an 8-0 and a place in the playoffs. For 2009, Coach Mickey Matthews hopes for a national title.
