Based in Amherst, Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Minutemen are members of the CAA in the NCAA Division I-AA. Prior to their inclusion in the CAA in 2007, the Minutemen competed in the Yankee Conference and the Atlantic 10.
During their football history, the Minutemen have captured a total of 22 conference championships, the most recent one a share of the CAA title in 2007. Presently the Minutemen play their home games at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium, which was built in 1965.
Overall in 2008, UMass finished in third place of the CAA North with an even conference record of 4-4 and an overall record of 7-5, winning the last game 14-28 over Hofstra.
