The Connecticut Huskies play for the University of Connecticut. They started playing football in 1896 forming an Athletic League of New England State Colleges including also Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Their first game against a collegiate opponent was against Rhode Island in 1897.
Connecticut’s football program moved up to Division I-A status in 2000 and became a full Big East member in 2004.
Just two years after becoming a full I-A member they were invited into the BCS conference. The Huskies had have the fastest progressing out of I-AA in NCAA history. |
