- The four conference original members which are still part of the conference are Idaho State , Montana, Montana State and Weber State.
- The strongest conference rivalries in football are: Idaho State - Montana State, Idaho State - Weber State, and Northern Arizona - Montana State
- The Big Sky has become in recent years a highly competitive Football conference.
- The conference’s leading football facilities are the Washington-Grizzly Stadium at Montana, the Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State, the PGE Park at Portland State and the Stewart stadium at Weber State; all of them with a capacity of sitting more than 20,000 spectators.
- All current active member schools in the conference are public.
- The last school to become a Big Sky member was the University of Northern Colorado in 2006.
