Based in Missoula, Montana, the Montana Grizzlies are members of the Big Sky Conference in the NCAA Division I. The University of Montana has been part of the BSC since 1963. Presently the Grizzlies play their home games at the Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
The Grizzlies have won two national championships: the first in 1995 and then again in 2001. They are presently ranked #5 in the FCS and have appeared in a total of 16 consecutive playoffs, of which Montana has won a total of 15 conference titles.
In 2007, the team sent several notable players to professional football, including Dan Carpenter and Kroy Biermann, who were selected to play with the Dolphins and the Falcons, respectively.
For the 2008 season, the Montana team enjoyed an overall 14-2 record, losing only one home game and leaving the Grizzlies in first place in the BSC.
