Based in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been members of the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA Division I since 1912. Before playing in the Big Ten Conference, the Buckeyes competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Ohio State has one the most prestigious and tradition-rich football programs of all time. In 2008 season, the Buckeyes were ranked #3 in ESPN's Prestige Rankings, trailing only the Oklahoma Sooners and the USC Trojans.
In its 118-years of football history, the Ohio State football team has claimed 35 conference titles; 2 OAC championships, and 33 Big Ten titles. The Buckeyes have also obtained seven National Championships. The last one came in 2002 with an undefeated record of 14-0. The team has also achieved 9 undefeated seasons, including four with Head Coach Woody Hayes.
The Ohio State football team ended in second place of the Big Ten, with a 10-3 overall mark and 7-1 record in conference games. During the Bowl tournament, the Buckeyes lost against Texas 21-24.
2009 proved to be quite a good season for the Buckeyes. They won the Big Ten Conference with a 10-2 overall, and 7-1 conference record. Now they will face Oregon in the traditional Rose Bowl in Pasadena right after the January 1st Parade.
