Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Michigan Wolverines have been members of the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA Division I since 1895. The Wolverines play their home games at the Michigan Stadium since 1927. The team is known for its distinctive winged helmet and its fight song. Regardless of their performance, the Wolverines attract an important amount of fans to every game. Just to give you an idea, they held a 222 game streak in home games with an attendance of over 100,000 fans.
The Wolverines have won or shared 42 league titles, more than any other football program in any conference. The team has claimed 11 national titles. Their last one was won in 1997. Michigan has finished in the nations top 10 in 37 different seasons, according to the press polls. Its current head coach is Rich Rodriguez.
For the 2008 season, the Wolverines football team ended with an overall record of 3-9 and finished in tenth place of the Big Ten. In conference play the held a 2-6 record.
Things did not change much in 2009 for the Wolverines. Michigan ended in tenth place of the Big Ten with a conference game record of 1-7 and an overall record of 5-7. The Wolverines lost their last 5 games of the season.
