Based in Smithfield, Rhode Island, the Bryant Bulldogs are members of the Northeast Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Bulldogs joined the NEC in 2008 after competing in Division II.
In their history with the Northeast-10 conference from 1980 until 2008, the Bulldogs won two conference championships; the last one was obtained in 2007. Bryant football team is not eligible to win conference championships or to participate for national championships until 2012, due to the five year transition period.
For the 2008 season, the Bulldogs ended with an overall record of 7-4 record in the season, but still did not participate in the conference play due to the transition.
