Important Facts

• The Great West conference headquarters are located in Elmhurst, Illinois
  


• The conference changed its structure to field only football to an all-sports conference in July, 2008.
  


• Ed Grom is the current conference commissioner.
  


• Both school’s North Dakota State and South Dakota State, which were conference champions in 2006 and 2007 respectively, have left the Great West as of the 2008 season.
  


• Some of the conference most important football sports facilities are: Alex G. Spanos Stadium and Aggie Stadium that host the home games of Cal Poly and UC Davis respectively.
  


• The Great West Football Conference awards to student-athletes on a weekly and full-season basis several honors amongst which we can mention: Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, Academic All-Conference team, Newcomer and Coach of the Year and All-Conference teams.
