Based in Davis, California, the UC Davis Aggies are members of the Great West Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. Before joining the GWC in 2004, the Aggies competed in the Independence Conference.

Since their inclusion to the Division I-AA, the Aggies have not yet won a conference championship but they have managed a decent average in their records.

For the 2008 season, a 5-7 record left the Aggies team at second place of the GWC, finishing the regular season by losing the last three games against Sacramento State, Cal Poly, and San Diego.
