Based in Normal, Illinois, the Illinois State Redbirds are members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Redbirds joined the MVFC in 1985 and have played their home games at the Hancock Stadium since 1963, when it was opened.
During the team’s history, the Redbirds have won 5 conference titles and 1 MVFC title. Illinois State has also participated in three playoffs, during 1998, 1999 and 2006.
With a 3-8 overall record for the 2008 season, the Redbirds not only ended in 8th place overall for the MVFC but also lost the last three games against South Dakota State, Western Illinois, and South Illinois, respectively.
