Based in Ithaca, New York, the Cornell Big Red is a member of the Ivy League Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Big Red, along with the Columbia Lions, joined the Ivy League in 1956. At Ithaca, the Big Red have played their home games at the Schoellkopf Field since 1915 when it was opened.
In the team’s history, Cornell has won five national championships, in 1915, 1921, 1922, 1923 and 1939, as well as three Ivy Conference championships, in 1971, 1988 and 1990. With 120 seasons, the Big Red have won 600 games and employed legendary players and coaches. One of Cornell’s best coaches was Gil Dobie, who had 16 seasons with Cornell and won three conference titles.
For the 2008 season, an overall 4-6 record left the Cornell team in seventh place of the Ivy League; the Big Red lost the last two games. In the conference the team finished with a 2-5 record.
