Based in Providence, Rhode Island, the Brown Bears are members of the Ivy League Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Bears joined Ivy in 1956 and have played their home games at the Brown Stadium since 1925 when it was opened.
During its history, the team participated in the Rose Bowl once - in 1916 – and has also won four conference championships – in 1976, 1999, 2005 and, most recently, 2008.
The Bears ended the 2008 season in first place with a record of 6-1, winning the last two games and finishing with an overall record of 7-3.
