Harvard and Yale are celebrated football and crew rivals. Other rivalries exist between other Ivy League teams such as: Harvard and Penn.
The Ivy League was successful in many sports in comparison to other universities in the country. In particular, Princeton won 24 recognized national championships in college football, and Yale won 19.
Yale, whose coach Walter Camp was the "Father of American Football," held on to its premium position as all-time leader in college football throughout the entire 20th century, but in 2001 was excelled by Michigan.
