The Ivy League is part of the NCAA Division I FCS and was first created in the mid 1950’s. The conference hosts members from the Northeast area of the United States and currently has a total of eight schools. Their headquarters are located in the East Coast in the city of Princeton, New Jersey.
The following schools are the Ivy League’s current active members: Brown University, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Princeton University, Dartmouth College, and Harvard University.
The Ivy League has been very successful in many sports especially as they field a total of 33 categories for males and females. In college football, Princeton has won 24 national championships while the University of Yale has won 19. Together this total is significantly superior to others strong college football programs. Presently, Dartmouth has the most football titles for a total of 17.
The strongest and most recognized rivalry in the Ivy League is between Harvard and Yale in the sports of football and crew, while Penn and Princeton have been long term rivals in the sport of basketball.
