Based in Baltimore, Maryland, the Morgan State Golden Bears are members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Golden Bears football team became part of the MEAC in 1984 and play their home games at Hughes Stadium.
From 1930 to 1956, while Eddie P. Hurt was coach, the Bears won 14 CIAA conference championships. Then during the 1960s coach Earl Banks led the Bears to 4 more CIAA championships and an additional championship in 1971 after Morgan entered the MEAC. The Bears again won the MEAC title in 1976 and then in 1979, but have not won any other title since then.
During the season 2008, Morgan State ended in 6th place of the MEAC with a conference record of 4-4 and an overall record of 6-6.
