Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the Winston-Salem State Rams are members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Rams joined the MEAC in 2007 and is the newest team in the conference. Before joining the MEAC, the Winston-Salem Rams competed in the CIAA Division II. Winston-Salem plays its home games at the Bowman Gray Stadium.
In 2008, the Rams had a lackluster 3-8 record, losing their last two games against NC Central and Norfolk State. Nevertheless, the team gained valuable experience that may aid them in 2009.
