The Eastern Michigan Eagles, formerly known as Hurons, belong to the Mid-American Conference of the NCAA Division I-A.

The Eastern Michigan football team have been one of the least successful teams in the conference.

The team had only a 3 years streak in the 1980's, they won the MAC Championship in 1987 and defeated the favorite San Jose State in the California Bowl.

Then in 1988 and 1989 the team finished in second place in the conference.
