Important Facts
- The MAC participates in the top level of NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision
- During 1997 and 1998 two new schools became part of the MAC, these schools were Marshall and NIU.
- Also in 1997, the MAC was divided into two separate divisions:
East and West.
- The MAC hosts three football bowls which are:
- GMAC Bowl,
- Motor City Bowl, and the
- International Bowl.
- The Toledo Rockets have won two of the last four conference championship contests,in 2002 & 2004 respectively.
