Based in Toledo, Ohio, the Toledo Rockets are members of the Mid-American Conference in the NCAA Division I. The Rockets became members of the MAC in 1950 after playing in the Northwest Ohio Conference. The Toledo team has played its home games at the Glass Bowl since 1937. Their main rivals are the Bowling Green State Falcons. Both teams play for a trophy each year known as the Peace Pipe.
The Rockets have claimed 10 conference championships in their history. Eight of these were won in the Mid-American Conference. Moreover, the Rockets have won two West Division titles during the seasons of 1997 and 1998.
For the 2008 season, the Toledo Rockets ended with an overall record of 3-9 to occupy the fifth place of the Western Division. In 2009 Toledo finished 4th in the West Division with a 3-5 conference and 5-7 overall record. They lost their last game of the season against Bowling Green 24-38.
