  • The conference has changed its name twice since its beginning; it was first called Gateway Collegiate Athletic Conference until 1991.

  • Missouri Valley Football has a total of 9 active school members

  • Patty Viverito has been the conference commissioner since 1982.

  • Eastern Illinois is the only charter member that have left the conference; currently it is member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

  • Western Kentucky left the conference after the 2006 season as the school's football program was upgraded to the Foolball Bowl Subdivision.

  • The winningest teams in the conference have been the Northern Iowa Panthers, with 13 conference titles, followed by the Western Illinois Leathernecks, with 5.
