Colorado State university was established in 1870 as the Colorado Agricultural College.
The school athletics is part of the NCAA Division I program. Before 1957 the sport team was known as the “Aggies”. On May 1, 1957 Colorado State adopted the name the “Rams” and has remained that way since.
Colorado State competes in the NCAA Division I conference. The Rams have won or shared the conference titles in 1999, 2000 and 2002.
Among some of the school’s most known rivalries are with; University of Colorado, Air Force and Wyoming; this last one being the one with the longest tradition in the West.
The school sports arena is the Hughes Stadium with a capacity of 34,000. |
