Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, the UNLV Rebels are members of the Mountain West Conference in the NCAA Division I. Before joining the MWC in 1999 the Rebels competed in the WAC and the Big West Conference. However, the Rebels were once a power in Division II before jumping to Division I-A and have had some difficulties since their promotion to Division I-A.
The Rebels are one of the only teams to be undefeated in bowl games, winning Las Vegas Bowl in two occasions and the California Bowl once. During their football history, the Rebels have only won 1 conference championship in the Big West Conference during the season of 1994, which was shared with Southwestern Louisiana and UNR.
With a 5-7 overall record in the 2008 season, the UNLV football team ended in sixth place of the MWC with a conference play of 2-6. In 2009 the Rebels played for a 5-7 overall and 3-5 in conference games record to finish 6th in the conference. For the 2010 season, UNLV has hired Bobby Hauck as their new Head Coach in an attempt to have their first winning season since the mid 80’s.
