Based in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, the Robert Morris Colonials have been members of the Northeast Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA since 1995. The first year of football for the Colonials was in 1994.
Since 2005, the Colonials have played their home games at the Joe Walton Stadium. In all their history, the RMU have won the NEC title on four occasions, all between 1996 and 2000.
For the 2008 season, the Robert Morris Colonials football team ended with an overall record of 5-6 record in the season and finished in 5th place of the NEC. In conference play the Colonials ended with a 4-3 record, winning the last game of the season against St. Francis 35-20.
