Based in Fairfield, Connecticut, the Sacred Heart Pioneers are members of the Northeast Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Pioneers joined the NEC in 1999 and play their home games at the Campus Field.
In their 18 years of football, the Pioneers have only won one NEC title in 2001 and have had 6 coaches; the present coach is Paul Gorham, who has been with the Pioneers for five seasons and has a record of 23-30. Now in his sixth season with the Pionners, Gorham hopes only to improve.
With an 8-3 overall record for the 2008 season, the Pioneers ended in 3th place of the NEC, finishing in the conference play with an even 4-3 record and losing the last two games of the season.
