Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the Tennessee State Tigers are members of the Ohio Valley Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Tigers joined the OVC in 1986 and play their home games at LP Field.
Since their inclusion in the OVC, the Tigers have won the OVC title on two occasions, during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Also, a total of hundred and four players from the team have joined the NFL but none of them are currently active.
In 2008, the Tigers finished with an overall record of 8-4 and obtained fourth place in the OVC with a conference record of 5-3, losing the last two games of the season.
