Based in Berkeley, California, the California Golden Bears have been members of the Pacific-10 Conference in the NCAA Division I since 1959. Before joining the PAC-10 the Bears played in the Pacific Coast Conference. The Bears play their home games at the California Memorial Stadium, which has a capacity of 73,347 seats.
The Golden Bears have claimed 14 conference titles. The last one was attained in 2006. Moreover, Cal football has won 5 national titles and has appeared in 19 bowl games (10-8-1). It is worth noting that the Golden Bears have clinched the victory in the last 4 bowl games they have played.
In 2008, Cal football team won 9 of their 13 regular season games and ended in the fourth place of the PAC-10. They also received an invitation to the 2008 Emerald Bowl, where they beat the Miami Hurricanes.
