Based in Tucson Arizona, the Arizona Wildcats are members of the Pacific-10 Conference in the NCAA Division I. The Wildcats joined the PAC-10 in 1978 after playing in the WAC for several years. The Arizona football team plays its home games at the Arizona Stadium since 1928. One of the most prominent coaches for the Wildcats was Dick Tomey, who was named PAC-10 Coach of the Year in 1992.
In their football history, Arizona has won a total of 6 conference titles: three with the Border Conference, two with the WAC and one with the PAC-10. Moreover, the Wildcats have participated in 14 Bowl Games, with a 6-7-1 all-time record.
In 2008, the Wildcats finished fifth in the PAC-10 with a 5-4 conference record and 8-5 overall. In postseason play, the AU Wildcats won the Territorial Cup, the long-time played rivalry game against the ASU Sun Devils. Later they went on to win the Las Vegas Bowl against BYU.
In 2009 the team lost only four games in the regular season for an 8-4 record. However, the Wildcats finished the postseason with a loss when they were crashed by Nebraska (0-33) at the Holiday Bowl on December 30th.
