Based in the Bronx, New York, the Fordham Rams are members of the Patriot League Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Rams became part of the Patriot League in 1990 after playing in the Division III.

The Rams have won one national championship in 1929 and two Patriot League titles in 2002 and 2007. Also, the Fordham football team has won four Liberty Cup titles (which is a small tournament dedicated to the Sept. 11th 2001 attacks) in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008.

With a 5-6 overall record for the 2008 season, the Rams ended in 6th place of the PL, finishing in the conference play with a 1-5 record and losing the last game of the season against Bucknell 21-24.
