Based in Hamilton, New York, the Colgate Raiders have been members of the Patriot League Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA since 1986. After joining the Division I-A the Raiders have advanced to the playoffs numerous times. The Colgate Raiders football team plays its home games at the Andy Kerr Stadium.
In their 119 years of football, the Raiders have won seven conference championships, the last one won in 2008. Moreover, in 2003 Colgate advanced to the Division I FCS final, becoming the first and only Patriot League team to ever do so.
For the 2008 season, the Raiders ended with an overall record of 9-3 record in the season and finished in first place of the PL. In conference play the Panthers ended with a 5-0 record, losing the last game of the season against Villanova 28-55.
