Based in Buies Creek, North Carolina, the Campbell Fighting Camels are members of the Pioneer League Football Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Camels recently joined the PLF in 2008 after not competing in football for approximately 57 years.

The Camels will play their home games at the Barker-Lane Stadium; the construction started in 2007 and was finalized in 2008. 

During their first season in 2008, the Camels ended the PFL in last place with an overall record of 1-10 and in the conference play the Campbell football team finished with a 0-8 record, losing the last six games of the season.
