Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the JU Dolphins are members of the Pioneer League Football Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Dolphins entered the PLF in 2001 and their first season of football was in 1998.

They play their home games at D.B. Milne Field, which has a capacity of 5000 seats. The Dolphins won the PFL conference title in 2008 (Dayton and Jacksonville finished with 9-3 conference records, but Jacksonville won the matchup on the last day of the regular season).
