Vanderbilt is a member of the Southeastern Conference. Vanderbilt's primary rival in almost every sport is the University of Tennessee.
Vanderbilt football team played in the first college football game against the University of Nashville in 1890. In the early 1900's the team had a fairly substancial success.
In 1932 Vanderbilt was in the pinnacle of its athletics dominance in the South and helped found the Southeastern Conference.
However, the Commodores have not won any conference championship and its last winning season was in 1982. |
