Important Facts
The Southeastern Conference is one of the most successful both on the field and economically, averaging more than six national championships per year since 1990. The Southeastern Conference was also the first to hold a championship game and win it, for football and was one of the founding members of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS).
The SEC sent six of its teams to post-season bowl games in 2005-2006. For the 25th straight season, the SEC has recorded the largest total attendance figure of any conference in the nation.
