Important Facts
- The Southeastern Conference is an intercollegiate athletic conference which was established in December 1932 and with base in Birmingham, Alabama.
- It is one of the co-founder of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and current member of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
- The NCAA awarded the SEC a go signal authorization to conduct a yearly football championship game between the champions of the Eastern Conference division against the champions of the Western Conference division.
- The SEC sent six of its teams to post-season bowl games in 2005-2006. For the 25th straight season, the SEC has recorded the largest total attendance figure of any conference in the nation.
