The Kentucky University football team is one of the least succesful programs in the strong Southeastern Conference. They have only two conference championships, one in 1950 and another on 1976.
In most recent times, with the coaching of Rich Brooks, the team has improved its performance. For the 2006 season the team finished with a record of 8-5.
Brooks also led the team to its first bowl game since 1999, where Kentucky defeated the Clemson University Tigers 28-20 in the Music City Bowl.
The team is going to its second straight bowl appearence on Dec. 31, 2007 when they face Florida State University.
